Alexander Zverev rages against the ATP tour

Alexander Zverev lost the final of the Madrid Open – and after the loss he criticized the ATP.

The final loss to Carlos Alcaraz in the Madrid Open.

Alexander Zverev is now venting his dissatisfaction.

– The ATP’s work this week was a disgrace, says the German.

Immediately after the loss, the German world three took the opportunity to honor the Spanish world six.

– Zverev said of 19-year-old Alcaraz that he is now the best player in the world after 0-2 in my group on gravel in Madrid.

On the other hand, Zverev did not have such happy tones at the press conference then.

Once he arrived, the German criticized him for playing until after midnight on two occasions during the tournament.

The quarter-final match against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime continued, Friday, until after midnight, while the semi-final match against Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas did not end the next day until after 01.00.

Zverev was not impressed – when the final match against Alcaraz was held later that day.

– This week’s ATP (men’s tour) post was a disgrace. Two days ago I went to bed at 04.00 and yesterday at 05.20. “Anyone who sleeps late will have a hard time staying awake,” Zverev told a news conference.

But he doesn’t blame the final loss for just lack of sleep.

– I probably wouldn’t beat him even if I slept better, but it would definitely be a better match. Zverev said: I am a human, not a robot.
