Djurgarden won the derby match against AEK AEK after an own goal and neglect

Solna / Stockholm. It was chaos in the last minutes.

Then Djurgården pulled the longest straw and won the derby over AIK 4-2.

– I don’t think you have time to think much about what a mess when you are on the field, says Julia Walintovic after the match.

AIK started the home team stronger in front of the 998 spectators on the sunny Skytteholm.

Already in the 14th minute, Jenny Danielson stretched her arms in the air, believing that her compatriot Kaisa Cullen had scored a goal. But Collins’ comeback after Remy Simpson’s shot into the crossbar went too far.

AIK created more chances – but it was Djurgorden who scored with a little help.

0-1 came after good play by Nelly Lilja and Stenalisa Johansson in the 25th minute. The latter fired a header from AIK captain Hannah Davison.

It’s important not to think too much about it. She says it’s bad luck and it won’t happen again.

The captain had to step down

Nine minutes later it was time again.

Right back Sarah Olay had to advance undisturbed into the attacking penalty area before passing the ball to Hayley Dodd. The striker, who scored just four goals last year, then scored his third goal of the season.

Just before the break, AIK got a cut. Chinillo Asher found an accessory for Kaisa Collin. The Finn’s shot hit the post but Asher was on the counter and fired 2-1.

In the second half, the AIK nightmare continued.

First, the team was forced to replace captain Hannah Davison, who streaked obliquely on touchdown and grinned. Hayley Dodd then stole a sloppy pass from Linda Hallen and had no problem scoring her second goal of the day.

First of all, we must stop at our individual mistakes that lead to goals. It is not more difficult than that. It often reflects the image of the match for us. We often allow early goals that are completely unnecessary, says Jenny Norden, continuing:

Then we have to score more goals in the future. We are making a lot today, which is a clear improvement, but we are not scoring enough goals.

Last minute chaos

AIK raised their hopes when Kaisa Collin nodded 20 minutes from the end of the game and the team was very close to equalizing. But despite the hand being placed and the ball going inside the bar, AIK didn’t get paid.

– I’m filming. Then it goes incredibly fast but I think it’s there. Jenny Norden says it’s definitely not much but it should be more of a line and I think it was.

– I don’t think you have time to think much about the chaos when you’re on the field because then you only think “next, next, next”, says Julia Valentovich after the match.

Shortly after AIK claimed a penalty and a goal, Djurgården received a penalty. Lova Lundin punctured the match with a safe kick from 11 meters to 4-2.

– We’re the best in town. I don’t think I need to say more than that, says Julia Valentovich.

It was Djurgården’s third straight win at Damallsvenskan. The team lost both games to AIK last season.

– I was told it was a little derby ghost. This kind of thing can sit on it, so it was great to break it, says Toph Almqvist.
