Elite cyclist Moriah Wilson, 25, is charged with racing in Texas.
Then she was shot in her bathroom.
Caitlin Armstrong, 34, is now being hunted in what police believe is a jealous drama, according to CNN.
Moriah Wilson transformed from a promising skier for the alpine national team to cycling and in no time made a name for herself in the new sport. Above all, she’s been successful in so-called gravel racing — something between road and mountain biking — in the spring winning dozens of races and most recently winning a race in Belgium by more than 25 minutes, according to CNN.
On May 14, you’ll be at the starting line in Hico, Texas. While recharging, she borrowed a friend’s house and there she was killed by multiple shots on May 11.
The suspect in the murder is Caitlin Armstrong, who has been on the chase by police for over a week. An Armstrong-like vehicle is said to have been seen near the address shortly after the murder, according to police surveillance photos.
The police believe the motive is jealousy. For several years, Armstrong has been in a relationship with Colin Strickland, who is also an elite cyclist. In the fall of 2021, the couple temporarily separated and then Strickland had a brief romantic affair with Maurya Wilson before finding his way back to meet Caitlin Armstrong.
Strickland and Moriah Wilson were scheduled to compete in Heiko and on the day of the murder, Strickland and Moriah Wilson met, swam, and had dinner, according to a police interrogation with Strickland.
Something police now believe caused Armstrong’s cup of jealousy to overflow, who is then believed to have killed the 25-year-old.
