Malmö FF wins the 2022 Sweden Cup.
After a 0-0 shootout, Astrit Selmani missed the crucial penalty kick that gave Malmo the gold medal.
It is the club’s first gold in the cup since 1989.
It was a bit tricky but Hammarby came closest to progressing in the first half of the cup final.
Edvin Kurtulus tested Ismael Dewara with a powerful shot early in the match and after a ball dropped from Hugo Larsson, Hammarby was a millimeter free kick. However, Gustav Ludwigson did not manage to communicate with her, as his teammates had hoped, and the ball went out.
About to make a leap
The match didn’t open up much in the second half, and two shots from Williot Swedberg seemed to be the most dangerous thing to happen.
Before the match ended for extra time, Dennis Hadzikadionic had a great opportunity to make the decision Malmo FF. But the midfielder’s leap went beyond Hammarby’s goal.
During the expansion period, the spirit of enthusiasm continued in Hammarby’s goal when goalkeeper Davor Blazevic fired a shot from Veliko Permancevic over the crossbar. But the score was 0-0 even with overtime running out.
Cup champion after the penalty shootout
Last season, Hammarby won the cup final on penalties and again this time the title would be awarded after 11 meters of kicks.
Sergio Peña and Nahir Bisara both missed the first penalty kick after Davor Blazevic and Ismael Diawara saved brilliantly. But then all players scored until the fifth round.
Then Astrit Selmani shot Diawara straight and the Gold Cup went to Malmö FF – for the first time since 1989.
