Frida Carlson and Maja Dalqvist talk about why they left the national team

Frida Carlson and Maja Dalqvist leave the national team.

Now they talk about why.

– We were willing to compromise. We’re a bit disappointed, Carlson tells Sportbladet.

The news hit like a bombshell on Monday night.

Two of Sweden’s biggest ski stars, just like Lynn Svan, have opted out of the national team and betting on the World Cup under their auspices.

say now Frieda Carlson And the Maja Dalqvist Why.

The reason is because I’m trying to improve my investment and I’ve seen that the important thing for me is to continue working with my team around me like at home and working with the common denominator without having to give it up to go camping. It gives me a lot of time at home with those I choose to work with, says Frida Carlson.

‘It’s not about the money’

During the evening, length director Lars Oberg confirmed that Carlson and Dalkvist had refused to sign the transfer agreement.

Carlson now says she and Dalkvist made demands that the union did not want to meet.

It is not about the agreement itself. We were willing to compromise, we could spend more days at home and maybe skip camp, so we don’t need any compensation. She says it is not, but we are a bit disappointed.

It’s not about the commercial parts but just the campgrounds?

Yes, it’s about getting better, getting more days at home, and maintaining the common thread I’ve built with my team. It’s not about money at all. We were ready to skip making up entirely to spend more days at home. But it was a compromise that could not be implemented.

How do you feel about it?
In the best of the worlds, I saw that it could have been solved. It was not an easy decision, but at the same time I have to work on going as fast as I can. I see it as the perfect way for me to be able to go as fast as I can in the national team uniform this winter, says Carlson.

Swelling in the stomach

She and Dalkvist thought it through and in the end it was a tough decision to make.

– It was very difficult. I had swelling in my stomach all spring. I wish I felt like the best thing was to be on the team. But like I said, I think with the team around me at home it will make me better. Dalqvist says it was a really difficult decision.

What is the most difficult?
You don’t want to hurt anyone in any way when you want to do the best for yourself. You don’t ultimately know what’s best, but you have to keep feeling.

– I don’t wish there were any “hard feelings” from the guild against me or against the guild, and I can guarantee that it isn’t. At the same time, it’s the national team that I’ve dreamed of since I was young and thought it was the best thing to be a part of, so obviously it’s a tough decision to make. The easiest way was to stay but I’m still 28 and want to do what’s best for me.

“No dissatisfaction with the coaches”

Frida Carlson says the decision is not based on any dissatisfaction with the national team coach.

– number. But I have coaches abroad that I choose to work with.

What will your layout look like now?

I created everyday life which I see is the big thing. Everyday life is the biggest “sweet spot” for me for development, just to let it roll. Continuity of key passes, measuring my own passes and seeing my development on paper. This is what awaits.

What do you do with sparring when there are no camps?

– I live in Östersund and here are large parts of the national team. I’ll be able to argue with them when I get the chance.

Will you and Maga have their own camp?

– There is nothing we have planned yet. This is not the reason we made this decision. But if there’s an opportunity to take advantage of each other, we might as well do it.
