Patricia Strinius wins two gold medals at the European Weightlifting Championships

Patricia Strinius won two gold medals at the European Championships in Powerlifting on Wednesday.

The tournament appears to be the end of her elite effort.

– I’ll see what happens a bit in the fall, but it probably is, Strenius tells Radiosporten.

At the Olympics last summer, Patricia Strinius finished fourth.

Barely a year later, the 32-year-old weightlifter avenged the European Championships in Tirana.

First, Strenius managed 94kg of jerks before it was time to go for the gold in the show branch shock. Then she needed to weigh 130 kilograms.

– I missed 130 in the World Cup, which is the weight I usually carry in training. I promised everyone around me I’d never block him again, so it was just a matter of getting out and doing it, Strenius tells Radiosporten.

Two golds in the European Championships for Patricia Strinius

In the event of a shock, the weightlifter first pulls the barbell to the shoulders before pushing it up with arms straight above the head.

When Patricia Strinius managed it on Wednesday, it meant partly that she won the European Championship gold in shock, and partly that she came back on aggregate when the results were combined in shock and trembling together.

So the gold doubled in the European Championship, despite the poor preparations.

– I have been sick for about 2 weeks and have a really bad recharge. I also lost my luggage, which caused a very big inconvenience. So I didn’t have much of my stuff, Strenius tells Radiosporten.

The European Championship gold looks to be the last of the Strinius Championships. She does not see additional investment at the highest level in front of her.

– I think so. I’ll see a bit in the fall what happens, but it probably will be.
