Alan Pardew leaves CSKA Sofia because of the fans

Alan Pardew resigns from his job as CSKA Sofia coach.

The reason is the words of racist insults and bananas from the club’s fans against their players.

– Pardew told the club’s website that the events before and after the match against Botev Plovdiv were unacceptable.

Alan Pardew, 60, has a long England coaching career behind him, but has spent the past few seasons a bit far from the most dazzling spotlight in football.

After his stay at Dutch ADO Den Haag, Pardew took over the coaching position at CSKA Sofia in April of this year. But it was a short period on the bench in the Bulgarian League II.

CSKA Sofia announced, on Wednesday, the resignation of Pardew due to the racist attacks of the club’s fans on their players.

The events before and after the Botev Plovdiv match were unacceptable. Not only for me, but also for my assistant, Alex Dyer, and my players,” Pardew said in a statement on the club’s website.

Pardew resigns: ‘Sorry’

The incident that Pardew is talking about is that some fans threw bananas and racist insults at the club’s black players. This is in connection with the home match against Botev Plovdiv on May 19.

“This small group of organized racist fans, who tried to sabotage the match, are not the fans I want to train my team against,” says Pardew.

However, he thanks him for the pleasant stay in the club.

– Unfortunately, my time here struggled to the end.
