Strong second round by successful amateurs
Ingrid Lindblad followed up on the successful run of the US Open by touring on day two.
The Swede is fifth before the weekend, one stroke behind Anna Nordqvist.
– I just tried to play the same game as last time, says Lindblad in FiPlay.
Ingrid LindbladThe 22-year-old went to his first US Open turn with a 65-stroke Thursday, the lowest-ever amateur level in the tournament, and was a close second before the second round.
There, the Swede went on par, 71 strokes, which means she remained six strokes below par before the final two competition days of the weekend. She is five- and three-strokes behind leading duo Mingji Lee, Australia, and Mina Harig, USA. Anna Nordqvist, 34, is joint third, and seventh after two rounds.
– It will be fun to catch up on Ingrid this weekend and beyond. A player we’ll be hearing about for a long time to come, says Viplay expert Karen Hellmarsson hut.
Goes with the world set
Lindblad, who could not participate in the record prize money in the competition because it was still an abyss, is fully focused on tomorrow.
“I have to play my own game and not focus on what’s going on outside,” she says in Viaplay.
Lindblad went on the first of two tours with childhood star Annika Sørenstam, 51. On Saturday, she will play the same ball as Koo Jin-young.
Anna Nordqvist was relieved after the great start. Last week, she was forced to withdraw from a major LPGA Match Play competition due to symptoms of illness.
Honestly, not being able to play finally sucked. I’m grateful to be here and feel good, Nordqvist says with a smile at Viaplay.
Sörenstam missed the qualifying rounds
Sweden’s Linnea Johansson and Frida Kinholt also crossed the qualifying limit.
Annika Sörenstam received the crowd’s cheers afterward, but missed the qualifying limit by a wide margin. I went around 81 strokes, for a total of ten on par.
Madelene Sagström also missed out on the “cut” after being under six on Friday.
