From Thomason’s freezer box to the national team

From freezer box Jon Dahl Tomasson at MFF to Rosenborg and the national team — in just under a year.

Pavle Vagic has taken a whirlwind trip to Blågult.

– That’s the pay for hard work, he says.

In August last year, Pavle Vagic was sold for about ten million MFF to Norwegian Rosenborg. Vagic had a hard time convincing the then MFF coach John D. Thomason That he would be a regular starter and there were seven games from the start in total before moving to Trondheim.

Barely a year later, he became part of the national team Leanne Anderson after being called up immediately after the national team’s under-21 match 1-1 against Italy.

– I was watching TV with my girlfriend in the evening when it rang from an unknown number. Jan was. So it’s fun to be here, it’s a great feeling and being part of the national team is something I’ve been after, he says.

“I ran to get playtime”

Do you see yourself as a defender now?

– Now I’m a midfielder. I’ve played a midfielder my whole life, so we’ll see how it ends, he says with a laugh.

How was the retraining?

– That was in Malmö FF, the year of the corona there. I thrive as a midfielder and midfielder.

You left because you didn’t get much playing time under John D. Thomason, how was the time at Rosenborg?

– It was good, of course. I ran for playtime and got it. As a team, we were up and down. We have a younger team this year, but we’re building something really good, so I think it’s going to be very good.

And Trondheim as a city?

“Maybe it’s a little cold,” Vagic says with a laugh.

“Very strange”

What else do you say about Norwegian football?

– You run more than Sweden, in fact a lot. Otherwise it is very similar compared to Allsvenskan and

The Norwegian League is the best in Scandinavia now, do you think it is better than the Norwegian League?

– The top is better, we have the company Bodö / Glimt in Norway that has done well in Europe. And I would say it’s smoother at the top too. But the fact that the team is managing more and more changes, that’s a big difference.

How do you see the journey I took from twitching in Malmö FF to Rosenborg and now the national team?

– Of course it’s big. It wasn’t something I thought about a year ago. But for me, it’s about working hard every day and that’s the reward I get.

Have you come to a special group with many shows and just two days to impress you?

– Yes, this is strange, very strange. But you do not have time to make such a great impression. I will do the best of it. We had an under-21 game on Thursday and then easier training during Friday here and the game on Sunday. It’s a short time.

What did Jan Anderson tell you?

– nothing special. It’s just fun that I’m here and good that I was able to come so quickly.
