Several young players in Sleipner die in accident

Several young players of IK Sleipner were involved in the fatal accident

A teenager died and four were seriously injured after they collided with a stolen car in Norrköping.

Now IK Slipner, where the deceased was playing football, is in mourning.

– This is a great tragedy, says CEO Anders Neubrandt.

It was a frantic and disturbing morning for Anders Neubrandt. Late yesterday, what he had feared was confirmed: several young men of IK Sleipnerthe assembly he chairs, sat in the car during yesterday’s fatal accident.

The dead boy was one of the players.

– We learned that three of the victims belonged to the activities of the youth association. It is a tragic accident and our most important task is to provide support, warmth and love to those around us, says Neubrandt.

There were seven young men traveling in a stolen car in the Heimelstalund district of Norrköping. At 15.20 yesterday, the SOS was alerted about what was initially believed to be an explosion, but it soon turned into one accident.

At the scene of the accident, the rescue service found a car that crashed into a tree and lay on the roof.

Collaborating with the Church

The seven passengers were taken to hospital. One teenager died and four others were seriously injured. The accident will be investigated, but the driver is under 15 and not a criminal, according to police.

For the football club, the immediate future is only about supporting its members and being with those who need to talk.

– We have created a crisis of support for the team and parents. Close relatives receive help from the health service, but it’s a much larger group than those who are affected when something like this happens. Anders Neubrandt says these are the people we want to help.

It is too early to say whether training and matches should be cancelled. How the memorial service should be held and when the mourning ribbons should be worn. Right now, IK Sleipner just wants to be there for his immediate area.

– We cooperate with the Church of Sweden and other actors. Together, we will be the crisis support we need right now, says Anders Neubrandt, President of IK Sleipner.
