In mid-April, Örebro signed a two-year contract with Tom Nelson worth more than 3 million Swedish kronor.
Six days later, the shock came when the former zoo keeper was informed by email that his new employer wanted to break the agreement.
“Of course it is a very difficult situation, and I can only hope that it will be resolved,” says Tom Nelson.

The situation between Tom Nelson and Orebro is unique to the SHL.
On April 16, Örebro announced that they had finished off the right hill. Five days after signing the contract, Tom Nelson went to Örebro to meet his new employer, look at a new apartment and answer questions about his physical condition.
The next day, six days after signing the contract, an email arrived from Örebro where the Voice just announced that they wanted to break the agreement.
The conflict has now been going on for nearly two months.
Not everything is as it should be, but otherwise it is very silent, Orebro General Manager Stefan Bengtzen assures.
– There are question marks, we know nothing more now. There’s nothing I can comment on, it’s sensitive, says Stefan Bengtzen.
Clarification from two doctors
The number one reason Orebro wanted to break the contract was because the club felt Tom Nelson’s knee wasn’t in good enough shape.
At the end of January, it was reported that Tom Nelson’s final season at Djurgården had ended with a cruciate ligament injury. No surgery was needed and since then he has done rehab to rebuild his knee.
– I’ve already finished my rehab and ready for next season. It went very well, says Tom Nelson.
Given the sensitive situation, he does not want to comment on other issues.
According to information from Sportbladet, there is a statement from two different doctors in Stockholm that his knee will be fully restored for the SHL games. Information that Orebro must also have received prior to signing the contract.
Tom Nelson should not have had any physical exams while visiting Orebro, but only answered a number of questions.
The standard agreement concluded by the SHL states that the club can terminate the contract within a week if the player is not considered to have passed a medical examination.

From the start, Orebro stated that the reason for the quick turnaround was Tom Nelson’s knee, but in recent weeks it has turned into a matter of general health.
Among other things, a shoulder injury seven years earlier and a thigh injury four years earlier will be treated.
Recruit another defender on the right
Since the news came, Tom Nelson has been forced to train alone in Stockholm and has not received any salary from Örebro.
According to Sportbladet information, the total value of the contract is more than three million kroner.
Now Tom Nelson is not welcome to play with Örebro and cannot negotiate with or negotiate with any other club as long as the two parties do not reach an agreement.
