Christian Eriksen’s cardiac arrest is causing a big problem in Denmark ‘Hjulmand lied’

Danish newspaper: Denmark was offered other alternatives

Christian Eriksen’s cardiac arrest shook the entire football world.

One year later, the incident caused a sensation in Denmark.

Weekendavisen claims that famous national team captain Kasper Hjolmand and the Danish Football Association lied about alternatives to playing the European Championship final match.

18.43 On Saturday, June 12, 2021, a lifeless person fell Christian Eriksen On the floor in Parc at the premiere of the European Championship between Denmark and Finland.

Weekendavisen says they have reconstructed what happened next when UEFA decides whether and how the match can be played further.

Only two options?

The official narrative from the Danish Football Association, DBU, and national team captain Kasper Hjolmand has always been that they face two very difficult alternatives by UEFA: play the match immediately if there is reassuring news about Eriksen’s condition or the next day, Sunday at 12.00.

I felt we were under pressure and in a dilemma. It was a very difficult situation to be in, Hjolmand said a year ago. It was a choice between two different scenarios and it was a mistake.

But Weekendavisen claims it is a lie after speaking to several anonymous sources and describing the chaotic meetings that took place in a room near the judges’ locker room in the park after Eriksen’s cardiac arrest.

The meetings were attended by referee Anthony Taylor, UEFA Secretary General Theodor Theodoridis, Swedish referee Bos Karlsson, representatives of the Finnish Football Association and the Finnish Football Association and Kasper Hjolmand who was described by the newspaper as “unreachable” when the league captain switched between the two teams. Meeting room and Danish changing room.

There were more chances

According to the newspaper, there were more options, in addition to resuming the match immediately or at 12.00 the next day, Sunday.

The game also had the opportunity to resume on Sunday evening or midday on Monday.

In an email response to Weekendavisen, Uefa wrote:

He added, “We treated the issue with the utmost respect given the sensitive situation. On the table there were many different options that were presented to the team. It was decided to resume the match in the evening of the same day at the request of the two teams.”

The newspaper writes that there have also been preparations in the event of a worst-case scenario – if Eriksen does not survive – the entire match will not be played and that even all European Championship matches will be called off within the next 24 hours.

The criticism was strong against UEFA who “forced” Denmark to restart the match immediately after a teammate passed between life and death or early the next day, after a night without sleep or peace.

But it is now claimed that there was no correct description of what happened.

“According to the new information, the captain of the national team was aware of the various alternatives to playing the match on Sunday evening or Monday afternoon, but failed to talk about them,” wrote Wikendavisen.

Goes to counterattack

The Danish Federation, DBU, is launching a counterattack against the information:

– It’s taken out of the blue. We have two options. I personally was in the room where the discussions were taking place, DBU Director Peter Muller told Ekstrabladet. I don’t need to defend myself or the league, but I need to defend the league leader.

– I can vehemently refuse that this would be true, says Muller who attacks the writer of the article who thinks he is pursuing an agenda against Kasper Hagelmand.

The league captain himself told Frihetsbrevet newspaper ahead of the football meeting in Bornholm on Thursday about the information:

– No, they are not real, said Hegolmand, who also said that the events are an exaggerated separation.

The match, which resumed after an hour and a quarter after Eriksen’s cardiac arrest, ended with a score of 1-0 against Finland.
