The city of Stockholm has taken the decision to renovate the Avicii Arena.
In the same official statement, a decision was also made to demolish the court.
The project has already started in 2016.
The goal was to define how Stockholm will renew the arena area south of the city, where in the future it will feature, among others, the Avicii Arena, Annexet, Hovet and Tele2 Arena.
It is now clear that the renewal will take place in three phases.
The Avicii Arena will be modernized, the arena room will be reduced, the annex will have a new entrance and the stadium will be demolished in favor of a training ground.
“A greater intimate relationship, where the atmosphere, atmosphere and acoustics are much better experienced for visitors to all different types of events, and for different sizes of audience,” the official statement read.
Work will start in 2024.
The ambition is for the Avicii Arena to be closed throughout 2024 to reopen on January 1, 2025, says Magnus Viker, CEO of Stockholm Globe Arena properties.
When the Avicii Arena is completely renovated and ready for use, the court will be closed.
