Now there’s another sentiment for William Wallinder, 19, who’s got a new chance to play JVM.
“I heard kind words from him, probably just to thank him for the place,” Wallander told Sportbladet of the conversation with national team captain Thomas Montaigne.
JVM is usually played on Christmas and New Years Eve. But the outbreak of Corona among active players ended the tournament, and it will be held instead in August.
This gave Röglebacken William Wallinder a new opportunity to play his first – and last – JVM role.
Last winter, the 19-year-old got sick and disappointed that he hadn’t received any explanation from Thomas Montaigne.
But two weeks ago, Wallander got a call from the captain of the national team who told him he wanted to include Röglebacken in the next JVM team.
– It was a good talk. I heard kind words from him and thought it was just to thank him for the place, says Wallander.
I was disappointed last winter. Should Montaigne have explained himself now?
No, he didn’t need that. He thought I had made big strides and I feel that too and am just happy with my choice. It would be fun with the first JVM.
I worked with my defense
At a press conference where Montaigne presented the starting lineup, the league captain made it clear that he believed Wallander had made great strides in his defensive work. A picture shared by the main character.
– I wasn’t happy with it before. But I think I got it really well and got more and more playing time during the season and the opportunity to play boxing, Wallander tells Sportbladet.
Have you had time to celebrate the competition with the family?
– It became nothing. There may be a fancy dinner in the future, we can hope for that.
The JVM will be scheduled from August 9-20 in Edmonton, Canada.

The tournament schedule has not yet been determined.
The Swedish national team meets on July 29 and travels to Canada the next day. The tournament will be decided from August 9-20.
