Richarlison appears as bisexual in Brazil

No other player in the Brazilian national team has done this before.

Now Richarlison, 39, is coming out as bisexual.

I dated men, I dated women. What does it matter? He says.

He made a name for himself in his native Brazil. Among other things, Richarlison participated in 147 matches with São Paulo and more than 100 matches with Atlético Mineiro.

In addition, he participated in two matches with the Brazilian national team in 2008, one of which was against Sweden.

Now Richarlison appears as bisexual, which no player in the Brazil men’s national team or high school has done before.

All my life, people have asked me if I’m gay. I’ve had relationships with men but I also have relationships with women. I’m bisexual, he says on the podcast “Nos Armarios dos Vestiarios.”

During a television broadcast in 2007, Richarlison’s coach – Jose Cirillo Jr. – chose to admit that the player was gay. Something that Richarlison then did not want to comment on.

After ending his playing career, he now chose instead to talk about his sexuality to help counter the homophobia that exists in Brazil.

“I want to see if society can change”

– I’m normal, I have needs like everyone else. I date men, and I date women. What does it matter? I want to see if society can change. Brazil is the country where most homosexuals are killed.

He says he has not received any significant support from his family.

– I only spoke frankly about my sexuality with my mother. My dad and brother will find out through this podcast, he says.
