The Seden and Daniel Alfredson brothers have been elected to the Hall of Fame

Tampa. Brothers Seyden and Daniel Alfredson are now forever a part of hockey history.

They were elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday – to be the fifth, sixth and seventh Swede of all time after Poreh Salming, Mats Sunden, Peter Forsberg and Niklas Liedstrom.

The twins of Ö-vik and the captain of Ottawa have long been of course a part of hockey history before, but now it’s official.

Only the most prominent hockey players were inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame and twins Daniel and Henrik were introduced at the first attempt – once they qualified, which occurs three years after their official “retirement”.

They are also the first ever brothers to be elected at the same time – but despite the fact that only a few tokens are assigned annually to HHoF members, I think it’s not hard for the Election Commission to honor the now 41-year-old regent.

Their joint record speaks for itself. They’ve both won NHL points, won awards as Major League Players, won an Olympic gold with Tre Kronor in 2006 and led the Vancouver Canucks to the Stanley Cup Final in 2011.

Daniel Alfredson – Captain of the Ottawa Senators’ beloved team for many years and also the Olympic gold medalist in 2006 – had to wait a few years to be elected, but now he is officially one of the great legends.

There are already four Swedes in the Hockey Hall of Fame: Borgie Salming (elected in 1996), Mats Sunden (2012), Peter Forsberg (2014) and Niklas Liedstrom (2015).

Henrik Zetterberg was also a “qualifier” for the first time this year, but he has to wait for a Hockey Hall of Fame honor.

Istället fick de tre svenskarna sällskap in i evigheten av Roberto Luongo och Riikka Sallinen

They will all be honored at a gala in Toronto this fall.
