Johan Bennerborn saw Färjestad win the gold medal from the sofa

After six consecutive seasons as coach of Färjestad, Johan Pennerborn was fired from the club in February earlier this year.

About three months later, he saw his former team pull gold off the couch.

– It was a different feeling not to be in his place, he says.

In the 2014/2015 season, Johann Pennyerborn entered Färjestad BKOrganizing for the first time, then as a coach for the Al-Ittihad U-16 team.

After two seasons there, he initially became an assistant coach for the first team and then also head coach for six seasons before being sacked in February earlier this year.

About three months later, he was able to see his former team win the gold medal in the Swedish Championship on his home soil from the couch.

It was a different feeling not to be in the profession you’ve been in for so long. It was a different feeling, but you should probably get used to it if you’re going to be a hockey coach, he says.

This was the tenth gold medal in the club’s history.

– Färjestad is very close to my heart. I was very happy for the players, leaders, fans and everyone who worked around me. Great fun for Värmland as an area too.

Moving abroad

Now Pennerborn will continue his career as a coach, but not in Sweden.

– Some Swedish clubs heard from me, maybe there was someone I rejected.

Instead, the moving load goes to Austria and the Graz99ers where he was introduced as the new head coach about a month ago.

I look forward to it very much, and see it as an investment and humility to continue to be a hockey coach. Most of all I want to work with a hockey coach until I retire, and I love it.

The contract is written for one year with one option year.

ICEHL starts September 16th.
