Jacob Bergstrom from Mjällby: ‘It feels like life has come back’
The unfortunate clearance in a practice match turned out to be a struggle to get back on the football field at all.
Six months later, Jacob Bergström became a Milbee player again eligible for the match squad – a journey that included doubt, anxiety and tension.
– It is as if life has returned, says the striker in an interview with Kristianstadsbladet.
No symptoms, neither in the evening nor the day after the match.
Only half a week later Jacob Bergstrom noticed that all was not well.
The music in the dressing room sounded terribly loud, and after a day dizziness, headaches and nausea appeared.
The assessment was that the concussion should have triggered symptoms earlier, which means Bergstrom accompanied Mialbe to a training camp in Spain.
There were only three sessions before the corpse said no.
Returning to Sweden, he was diagnosed with a concussion. Games in the spring were irrelevant, and everyday things like fiddling with a mobile phone, reading and watching TV were impossible. Driving is disqualified.

Instead, he enrolled in a brain injury rehabilitation center and stayed there for five weeks. At home in Karlskrona, the pregnant cohabitant Sarah had to fend for herself.
– She’s been great all this time. When I was the one who should have taken care of her, she was the one who had to take care of me. Without your family, friends, and everyone you love, you’re not much, says Bergstrom to Christianstadsbladet.
The baby will arrive on September 2nd and not knowing if I will recover by then has also contributed to my feeling bad. It became difficult to lead a normal life and be healthy when the baby was born.
The striker has been in full training for three weeks and is eligible for Milan’s match against IFK Gothenburg this weekend. The moon is at its zenith.
– Compared to before, it’s incredibly hopeful. It feels like life has returned. My partner cried when I was able to shop for the first time, and it was fun picking up the dishwasher to deal with.
