F1 director accuses family of lying

Mick Schumacher scored his first points in the Formula 1 World Cup and father Michael Schumacher once again took home an impressive award in Germany.

At the same time, the family of the seven-time world champion was attacked. Schumacher’s former manager calls them liars.

This week Michael Schumacher received an award from the Minister-President of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia Hendrik West and received the award for his commitment to charitable work. His wife Corinna and daughter Gina were on hand to receive the award, along with Jean Todt, former FIA president and Ferrari team manager. The son, who is also Formula 1 driver Mick Schumacher, was not feeling well and stayed home.

Tears welled up in Corina’s eyes, and Jean Todt revealed that he visits Michael Schumacher regularly at his home in Switzerland. The German, who suffered a severe head injury during a 2013 ski accident, is being taken care of at home and there is no information on his health.

The family doesn’t want to say how he does, but the only thing that comes to the public’s knowledge are the words Mick Schumacher said in the Michael Schumacher documentary released last fall and short statements from Jean Todt.

– I see Michael at least twice a month, he told Todt Corriere della Sera earlier this year, and for German RTL he revealed they watch the F1 World Cup together:

– That’s right, we watch the races together.

But there are harsh criticisms from other places. Michael Schumacher’s former manager, Willie Webber, is criticizing the family for not revealing any details about Michael Schumacher’s health condition.

– I tried to contact Corina a hundred times, I called her and also tried to contact her in other ways, but she does not answer, he tells “Gazzetta dello Sport”.

– I called Jean Todd when Michael was still in the hospital. He said it’s early, I have to wait. So I called him the next day, but he still hasn’t answered.

The 80-year-old Webber is disappointed and angry that the Schumacher family does not want to contact him.

– I’m still angry. They didn’t let me in, but said it was too early. Now it’s too late. It’s been nine years since the accident happened and they should tell him how he really feels, says Webber.

– At first I managed to understand it, and I also wanted to protect Michael’s privacy. But since then they have just lied to us.

– I’m driving this weekend and beyond. Sebastian Vettel says that at some point we will start talking after that when he meets the media ahead of the French Grand Prix.
