The International Association of Athletics Federations (WA) has its own prize money and world record rewards in the WC.
That’s why Mondo Duplantis gets $70,000 – or roughly 700,000 SEK in gold as a reward.
But the world record gave more than that. So, Duplantis got a director in the amount of $ 100,000.
That’s why WA Chairman Lord Sebastian Coe headed to Mundo right after the Swedish national anthem and handed out a check of just over a million Swedish kronor for the world record.
– But that is only a small part of what he gets from this victory and world record. The bulk comes from his shoe sponsor and all the other sponsors he has, Weisfeldt says.
