Swedish players are quick to put pressure on favoritism and put pressure on English opponents.
Just like goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl, who has a past in British football, on Sunday. This is how she justified her move: “They have everything to lose.”
– They have ground, it went well for them, they beat Spain, which is a big test, and there are high expectations that they will come home. She is coming home…
– They must have come out very early and said they were our favorite and glad to meet us. I agree with that. Joanna Ritting Canred agrees that we’ll be driving and have nothing to lose.
“It doesn’t matter much”
Hedvig Lindahl can live with the fact that Sweden has also chosen itself as candidates.
We talked a lot about being the favorite and that you should be able to win. I don’t think it matters much, we do the same thing over and over again. She says that in the media war, we can make them favourite.
Another factor that came to the fore was England meeting Sweden in the bronze medal match in 2019.
After the loss, right-back Lucy Bronze responded that the English players might have been more disappointed than the Swedes by missing out on last place and therefore cared less about the bronze. The then-national captain, Phil Neville, described the meeting as an “unreasonable match”.
“We don’t have that mentality here.”
Sweden captain Peter Gerhardsson remembers the excuses and thinks England will go through the semi-final in a different way.

We don’t have that mentality here, Magdalena Erickson points out. We say that all the time. We want to win every game we play. It doesn’t matter if it’s the Algarve Cup or the European Cup or the bronze medal match, but we want to win everything.
