The Swede won the much-criticized LIV Tour.

Henrik Stenson He was heavily criticized when he joined the Saudi-funded LIV Tour. The 46-year-old was sanctioned, among other things, with the Ryder Cup, when he lost his job as captain of the European team in 2023.
Stenson is said to have received 550 million crowns to join the competition. Earlier this week, he spoke about his decision.
– I’ve been a professional golfer since the end of the ’90s. The prize money and the financial part have always been an important part when we set our schedules and decide where to play. There have been some, for sure, and there has been no difference in this case, Stenson said at a press conference.
Millions of dollars in new rain
On Sunday evening, the LIV Tour was set, and Stenson managed to maintain his lead from Saturday all the way to the finish line. The Swede was an 11-stroke on par, which was twice as good as Matthew Wolff and Dustin Johnson sharing second.
– I played as a captain. It’s been a good week and it’s been great to be here with the boys, says Stenson on Viaplay, and continues:
– There have been tough days and I am very proud that I was able to focus the way I did.
By doing so, Stenson earned a winning bonus of four million dollars (about 40.7 million Swedish kronor), the largest bonus ever earned by a Swede in a single tournament. Furthermore, his Majesticks GC team came second in the tournament and with this Stenson earned around 3.8 million more.
