Simon Pettersson celebrates after SM’s gold medal in discus

Simon Peterson’s coach Vestin Hafsteinson believes Simon can grow and throw just over 70 meters in time for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Now he thinks he can come close to the world record.

– Yes, I had to rethink and think that he can throw 73-74 meters in the future. I didn’t think so before, says Festen.

Simon Peterson The performance at SM in Norrköping impressed everyone.

Including coach Vestin Hafsteinson, the world’s leading expert on the subject.

Festen, who was on sick leave and couldn’t go to the restroom in Eugene, was back as a WC coach and was already stunned after Simon Peterson’s first throw with 69.84.

– Yeah, it’s the best throw I’ve seen him make. It was a throw I’ve been waiting for all year. Then he follows through when Daniel takes over and shoots further, says Festen.

– He is a very wonderful, extraordinary person.

Simon’s presentation caused Festen to change her mind.

The plan to blow up that dream limit in Paris in two years blew up there in the fifth round in Norrköping.

– Yes, Simon is not finished yet, but a few years of development remain. Seeing him step in at such tremendous lengths is a surprise to me.

There was an image that discus throwers had to be heavy, strong, and gigantic to really throw them away.

– But then Mikulos Alkna appeared and his weight was ten kilograms less than Simon. The Alcana is the best disc thrower I have ever seen and many have been amazed that such a small and skinny guy can throw it so far. It made me change my mind about Simon, too.

Simon Pettersson has had a steep development curve since coming to Vesteinn and started throwing 49.71 when he was nineteen years old in 2013.

After nine years, it is getting better every year, and if it continues to evolve, it will evolve even more next year. And the next – the Olympic year 2024.

Simon himself is happy when he hears Feisten’s thoughts.

He does not object.

– No, it’s fun and no one knows this branch like Festen. I don’t do anything but trust him.

– I also feel like I have a lot left over. I can gain another five kilograms and I can raise another level in capacity.

But at the same time, Festen is keen to point out that the best discus thrower in the world right now is Christian See, the Slovenian who threw a WC gold in Eugene.

– Yes, he is the man to be overcome. It is very likely that he will be the one to break the world record. The only question is when.
