Manchester United icon Ryan Giggs, 48, has been charged with two counts of assault.
The first day of the trial took place on Monday.
There, Giggs is accused of speculating about his ex-girlfriend during an argument.

The allegations prompted him to take a break from his duties as captain of the national team for Wales, a position he later chose to leave.

All this led to Greville wanting to end the relationship, at which point a quarrel broke out in the house. Giggs then lost control and allegedly whipped his ex-girlfriend. He is also said to have hit Greville’s sister with an elbow when she tried to break up the fight. Police were called to the scene and Giggs was arrested.

Giggs denies all allegations. The trial is expected to last ten days and the 48-year-old faces up to five years in prison.
