Series 1 before the qualifiers – fans’ anger

Toppserien, Norway’s top women’s soccer league, will test a new format for champion production.

It drove supporters crazy.

“It goes against the basic principle of the series.”Brann SK group supporting Brann Bataljonen Twitter.

Being crowned champions through a playoff match is unusual in league football.

Usually, all teams in the series meet each other in a double header and then the season ends.

But this year Toppserien will try something new.

After 18 rounds, the top four teams in the league will meet each other to play for the league title. The worst six, including the best two of the series below, end up in a second-tier playoff as they battle for places in the Premier League next season.

‘I don’t feel authentic’

This form aroused feelings among supporters.

“Qualifying does not look like a real game series. Among other things, it goes against the basic principle that every match has equal importance.”Brann Bataljonen writes on Twitter and continues:

The team that will be at the top after August 28 (When the regular season decides) You get the real gold medal in the league and honor us.”

Bran’s supporters are not the only ones opposed to change.

Players vs Playoffs

According to NRK, they are supported by Klanen (Vålerenga), Kanarifansen (Lilleström), Stabaek Support and Kjernen (Rosenborg)

It (the qualifiers) is a way to dampen the excitement of matches and make it harder to follow and understand for moderately interested people, says Klanen pro-Klanen group spokesperson Erling Rostvåg for NRK.
