NFL star sanctioned for sexual assault

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson reaches a settlement with the NFL and the players union. He is now suspended for 11 matches and fined SEK 52 million.

25 women have filed lawsuits against the star for sexual assault and misconduct.

In civil lawsuits, 25 women have accused Watson of sexual assault in connection with massage treatments in the years 2020-2021, an order that was acquitted in court.

The NFL Disciplinary Committee initially suspended the NFL star for six games, but the decision was appealed by both the league and the players’ union.

Now a settlement has been reached: 11 match suspensions and a fine of SEK 52 million. Watson must also undergo a treatment plan by behavior experts.

“Deschamps is determined to do the hard work necessary to work on himself, which is essential to him so that he can come back,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

– One day I will tell the story from my side. I have always maintained my innocence and I support it. Watson himself said, in order to continue my career, I must put my pride aside.

The quarterback signed a five-year contract with the Cleveland Browns worth SEK 2.3 billion last spring. It’s the biggest contract, with guaranteed money, in NFL history.
