Because the team is in the middle of an extraordinary baby boom.
“Have you had a few activities?”
Andreas Blomqvist, 30, was missing out on Malmö, becoming a father for the second time just a few days ago.
Earlier this year, Victor Gustafsson, David Lovequist Jesper Gustafson also all have children.
– So I am the fifth player to become a father this year, says Jacob Bergstrom, his wife Sarah is very pregnant.
The birth is expected at the beginning of September.
Andreas Bernström is the new coach for this season.
– “What happened here?” I wondered when it arrived (Laughter). I asked them if they had too few team activities last year because it seemed like they spent a lot of time at home, says Brennan.
So there won’t be any increases next year?
– I told them we can’t have it like this. We can start doing a little business planning here. I said, “You can set the timing for January/February.” I tried to make them think. I don’t think they are listening but that’s what I was told anyway.
With a twinkle in the eye of course.
We made sure they took the time they needed. They will never forgive themselves if they prioritize differently and, say, rush here. We said, “Make sure you fix this to perfection and then come back here to work.”
Not expecting more children
Brännström – who has two children aged 7 and 8 – sees advantages in players becoming parents.
They may need to become more mature and better at seeing their surroundings at home and maybe even here. Players can be very smitten and suddenly they need to see and think a little more.
But Bergstrom is fifth and final – wouldn’t there be more this year?
– I didn’t hear anything else. That would be surprising.
Finally: Who is the father on the team?
– I would say Carlos Gracia, who has no children, and David Lovequist, who has two, says Prinstrom.
