Cardiff City will pay Nantes $64 million for Emiliano Sala, who died in a transfer-related plane crash.
A decision disappointed the Welsh football club.
“We anticipate an appeal and won’t pay Nantes in the meantime.”Cardiff City wrote on their website after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) CAS, announced the verdict.
2019 was Emiliano Sala Heading to Cardiff from Nantes after moving to Welsh Football Club.
On the way to his new team, Sala died in a plane crash.
FIFA decided that Cardiff City would pay 64 million to Nantes. It was only a small part of the transfer fee, which landed at around 180 million. Cardiff did not consider itself liable for the payment and appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which issued its decision today, three years after the appeal.
Cardiff will have to pay 64 million SEK ordered by FIFA to do so.

But Cardiff does not intend to pay any money to Nantes yet.
“Once the club’s lawyers have considered the decision, we anticipate an appeal and will not make any payments to Nantes in the meantime.”the Welsh club writes on its website.
Furthermore, Cardiff City wrote:
“If the appeal is unsuccessful, the club will take legal action against those responsible for the accident to obtain compensation and recover the money.”
Last year, the businessman who arranged the flight was sentenced to 18 months in prison for allegedly endangering the safety of the plane.
