Linköping after losing to Rosengård does not give up gold

It was Linkoping who created the chances in the series final, but it was Rosengard who scored the goal.

A huge loss for the guests who were now left behind in the gold battle.

– We will not stop believing that we can do this until it is no longer possible, says captain Olga Ahtenin.

From the start, defending champion Rosengard was pushed back by second-placed Linköping.

With their high pressure, the visitors were able to pin the match into the offensive half of the field and created one opportunity after another.

When you play against a good opponent you usually don’t create a lot of chances, but in this match I think we are creating some very good and dangerous chances. We were about to put them on and it’s really sad that we didn’t today, says captain Olga Ahtenin.

“I think we were better”

Linkoping often flaunted the edges. Stina Lennartsson and Alva Selerud have served in special high positions for Cornelia Kapocs, Amalie Vangsgaard and Therese Simonsson.

But the shots did not last.

They went into the arms of Tegan Micah of Rosengård or in the arms of her. Ahtenen testifies that there was a huge disappointment in the dressing room after that. The visitors felt they should have won the match with the advantage they had on the field.

We went a long way to get three points and we knew we could do it. We know it is in us. I think we were great today. They obviously had some serious chances and played really well at times, but I think we’ve been better, says Ahtenen and points out:

– Then you can’t take them because they get three points. Rosengård explains why they are at the top.

Rehabilitation of the toilet with a new coach

Now five points separate the league’s lead, but with eight rounds to play, Linkoping isn’t losing hope of a gold medal.

We will not stop believing we can do it until it is no longer possible. We must score as many points as possible.

From Ahtenen’s side, the national team’s meeting with Finland and the crucial matches of the World Cup qualifiers are awaited. First Ireland away and then Sweden at home in Tampere on September 6.

– It would be very exciting. We have a new coach and a few days to put all the tactics and everything in place. It’s going to be intense but I think it will be fun.
