The NBA star had suicidal thoughts

Basketball star John Wall has had to deal with adversity both privately and on the court.

The 31-year-old says that at one point he had suicidal thoughts.

In social media, he is supported by other NBA players like superstar LeBron James.

John Wall was chosen number one by Washington in NBA– Project in 2010 and immediately became a prominent player. However, in recent years he has had a tough time – both on and off the field.

In 2019, Wall’s mother passed away after a long battle with cancer, while Wall was forced to take an extended break from the basketball court due to a hamstring injury.

– It was the darkest place I’ve ever been. At one point, Wall says, I thought about suicide.

asking for help

The NBA star, who now plays for the Los Angeles Clippers, spoke during a charity event with the Salvation Army about how he’s been over the past three years.

He also believes that what he went through made him stronger as a person. He says starting treatment helped him a lot.

“A lot of people think I don’t need help, I can get through everything,” but you have to be true to yourself and do what’s best for you, says Wall.

When I look back, I think, “If I can get through it, I can get over anything in life.”

Wall has played only 40 games over the past three seasons. He is now looking forward to playing again for his new team, Clippers.

– You can see I’m smiling a lot more now, he says.
