Elfsborg is having a hard time in Allsvenskan.
Now the team was also eliminated from the Swedish Cup – by the first division team Oskarshamn.
Elfsburg has nine consecutive games without a win in the Allsvenskan. Although the team scored 34 goals, which is the fourth most in Allsvenskan, Elfsborg is in the tenth place in the table. Another heavy setback came in the Sweden Cup.
Oskar Sahamn, who is thirteenth in the First Division Södra, caused quite a stir as he advanced to the group stage. Kjutsu Masangan gave Oskarshamen the lead in the 27th minute at home. Elfsborg chased the equalizer, but in the 84th minute Emmanuel Boateng was shown a red card after a foul.
The match ended with a score of 1-0 and Elfsburg was eliminated from the cup.
Hammarby day
Hammarby was also under pressure in their match against Nykoping. Bagen already took the lead eight minutes later when Mats Wenger scored a penalty. Seven minutes into the second half, the score was 2-0 after an own goal from the home team.
But captain Ines Akhmedovic ignited Nykoping’s hopes when he scored the equalizer in the 77th minute. The host team was also not without a chance at the end of the match and they had a few half chances to equalize. But the match ended 2-1 and thus Hammarby reached the group stage of the Swedish Cup.
