Adam Almquist is ready for the Chelyabinsk Tractor in the KHL

The controversial Adam Elmoquist selection is now confirmed.

The Swede plays in the KHL with Traktor Chelyabinsk next season.

– He is a great team player who can create a good atmosphere in the dressing room, says club general manager Ivan Savin on the club’s website.

Adam Almqwist will be the seventh Swede in the Premier League next season.

Russian club Tractor Chelyabinsk announced on their website that the 31-year-old defender has signed a contract until 2022/2023.

– Adam’s strengths are the game on the blue streak, good passing game and good strength play, says Traktor Chelyabinsk general manager Ivan Savin.

Almquist recently came from Belarusian KHL club Dinamo Minsk.

He has a long experience of playing in the KHL and in the biggest European leagues. It is also important to be a great team player who can create a good atmosphere in the dressing room, says Ivan Savin.

Closed by Tre Kronor

Adam Almquist has represented Tre Kronor regularly in recent seasons. Now, however, he is not allowed to play in Sweden because the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation recently decided to suspend KHL players.

– We have come to the conclusion that playing in the KHL and at the same time representing Sweden in the national team is incompatible under the current circumstances, federation president Anders Larsson told Sportbladet regarding the announcement.

Previously, Adam Redborn, Johan Matson, Frederic Claesson, Robin Press, Jacob Lilga and Victor Svedberg (representing the Kazakhstan national team) played in the KHL.
