There are a full eight points for Djurgården’s table but only two points against Hammarby III in the Europaplats.
– We are close. We took it one game at a time and focused on it 100 per cent. That’s what Åge wants, not to look too far ahead. Martin Olson says it looks good.
Does the gold rush survive with seven rounds left?
– We have that mentality. We did not give up. We are there to hunt gold again. We want gold three years in a row. We are not comfortable.
Unwarranted optimism with MFF?
Here are some of the reasons why current champions have not given up hope for gold.
After the national team’s rest, three consecutive matches will be awaited at home: Hammarby, Union Berlin and Varnamo.
– It is important not to travel. We are a little tired now. It is important to get strong legs again. It’s been two tough weeks, says Åge Hareide.
– Now we fill the Malmö stadium for the next matches at home. Then it can be really good. Then we should at least be in the fight for the medals, the MFF coach tells Sportbladet.
Malmö FF has yet to face, among others, Hammarby (h), Djurgården (h) and Häcken (b).
“A few games left…”
Is it realistic to take the distance to gold?
In theory, this is possible. But we don’t look that far. Now we Hammarby in the next home game. But in practice it is difficult. We have to win and the others have to lose a few games. I don’t think they do it, says Hured, but adds:
– But we still have to face all the top teams, two of them at home in Malmö.
