Erling Haaland talks about controversial Manchester City owner
Erling Haaland is a success at his new club, Manchester City.
But in his native Norway, the club’s choice sparked controversy.
The club owner is accused of serious crimes against masculinity.
“I think it would be a bit harsh words,” Haaland answers when he has to give his opinion on the accusations.

But in his homeland, the 22-year-old’s progress was not mentioned only in positive terms. The move sparked controversy as the club is owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. A regime accused of committing grave crimes against humanity and imprisoning its own people.
Ahead of the upcoming Nations League matches with Norway, Haaland was asked how he views the accusations against the owner of the club he represents.
– First of all, I’ve never met them. I do not know them. These are very strong accusations that you are making there. When you express yourself in this way, I can’t help but say so much about it. “I think there will be some tough words,” Haaland tells NRK.

Furthermore, NRK asks how he views the club accused of “sports washing” and that his signature is part of that.
– I’ve been a city fan my whole life. My dad played there and so on. It’s actually the sporting thing I’m thinking of. Like I said, I chose the club with the coaches, the players and all that in mind. This is actually what I was thinking. “At the end of the day I was a City fan, and that’s just how it was,” said the 22-year-old.
Haaland is also supported by Norway captain Ståle Solbakken.
I think it is very difficult to place a great deal of responsibility on an individual. The City is approved by the Premier League, and where the streak for everything is absolutely impossible. He says it is a political issue that is far too big for one to be responsible.
