Despite countless medals, titles, and international matches together, one more thing stands out when her best friend Caroline Seeger considers Nella Fischer’s career with the national team.

You participate in all the things you did outside of football. How important was it that she fought that battle? There are many of you who have been with us for a long time and have been fighting, but what does it mean that you can put up with it?
The more people support each other, the easier it is to fight that battle. The coolest thing I think was with Nilla is that she did it in a way that unfortunately had to accept a lot of bullshit but she always stood tall and took that bullshit and owned that crap and just kept moving on. I think somewhere is a symbol of how Nella is as a person. She is very self-confident and very self-confident. She knows what she wants, she knows the way to go, and then she walks it all.

– I also think a great memory like the one I will have is when we beat Germany in the 2019 World Cup, because we fought together for so many years to beat them and experience that and get the bronze medal.
