After two losses and a relegation, Henn sees himself.
– I’m not playing a good game, and I wasn’t particularly good against Serbia, so it’s sad, says the 23-year-old.
Sweden failed to beat Slovenia in Friends and were relegated to the third division of the Nations League. Isak Hien had a chance to form a center back duo with Victor Nilsson Lindelöf in both matches, but former Djurgårdsbacken had a tough debut in the national team.
– It’s sad, of course, that it’s like that… when we need to win and we don’t succeed. We simply don’t play well enough, says Henn.
What do you say about your effort?
– I’m not playing a good game, I wasn’t good against Serbia either, so it’s sad.
Is it nerves that prevent you from reaching the highest level?
There are many factors, and nerves are certainly one of them. It’s hard to say more when you haven’t watched the match. I just can’t raise the level.
Friends and family agree with me.
After the matches against Serbia and Slovenia, the national team closed the possibility of commenting on their social media channels. Isak Hien tried not to read any comments from outsiders during the set.
Stay away from platforms where anyone can access. I didn’t get much but the feedback I’ve received from friends and family is so in line with my own picture, I can simply do better.
The 23-year-old central defender had a brilliant career, in April he made his debut for Allsvenskan, in August in the Italian Serie A, and now Hien started two matches for the national team. And so the match against Slovenia was Friends’ first in front of the blue and yellow house crowd, something the 23-year-old finds hard to enjoy.
It’s not really possible to take it now, it’s something you understand and should be proud of, but it’s hard to take it now when you’re in the middle of the mix. I debuted on Saturday and then the focus was on the match against Slovenia.
“No wonder people have high expectations”

As a centre-back, you need to gain experience, especially in matches like this against good opponents. It’s not strange if people have high expectations of me, I did well in Djurgården and things went well in Verona too, and I shouldn’t complain if people had high expectations, says Henn.
