Ulf Sandberg was killed – to be honored in front of IK Oskarshamn-Frölunda

Olaf Sandberg’s last hockey game was in the Brennas last Thursday.

With a memorial procession and a minute of silence, the murdered Oskarshamn fan will be honored by the club.

Last Friday, disabled Ulf Sandberg, 52, was beaten to death at Stora Torget in Oskarshamn when he was on his way home from a visit to a restaurant.

Two men are under arrest on suspicion of committing the murder that shook the city.

One of Ulf’s greatest passions in life was to follow the ice hockey team I.K. Oskarshamn. He shared the interest with his brother Bear, a heel leader.

Due to his poor balance, Ulf did not stand in heels himself, but always close to him.

– He and I have been on many long trips together, and that has been such an important part of his life. Per Sandberg told Aftonbladet that there was an incredible commitment from hockey.

The last time the brothers went to a hockey game was last Thursday when IK Oskarshamn met Brenas at the Be-Ge Hockey Center.

We are shocked and very sad about what happened. Ulf was part of IK Oskarshamn and a loyal supporter who attended matches and climbed into the office. He was always at the club, says Therese Elofson, IKO’s acting club manager..

So Ulf will be honored

Now on Thursday, IK Oskarshamn plays a home game against Frölunda.

Then the club will honor the memory of Ulf Sandberg. In collaboration with Blue Front Support, Oskarshamn will organize a rally in Stora Torget.

“IK Oskarshamn Chairman Johan Franzen will say a few words with the Oskarshamn Victims’ Shelter in order to honor Ulf and show that violence is absolutely OK.”The club writes on its website.

After the square assembly, a memorial march to Olf to the Be-Ge Hockey Center is organized. Before the start of the match against Frolonda, there will also be a minute of silence inside the stadium.

– It will be sentimental. We really felt it last Saturday. Thoughts went to other things during the match. The head of support for the Blue Front, Jonas Forsberg, says there will be a lot of emotion on Thursday.

How have these days been for you?

– I was depressed in many ways. Partly as a human being as a supporter, but also this concern that this could happen to anyone. Maybe he was on his way home. He says there are a lot of feelings.

What is the importance of being generous on Thursday?

– It’s very important. Not only does he love sports, but this gratuitous violence that occurred is of great significance. It is very important that it becomes good.

Oskarshamn also started a fundraiser for the city’s crime victim center.
