Swedish football has become a hot topic after a poor year for the men’s national team.
But what is not working?
Commentator Lasse Granqvist on the Sporthuset podcast says leadership in Swedish football does not exist.
Sweden fell from Division A in the Nations League directly to Division C. Blågult failed to qualify for WC and only won two of their eight international matches in 2022.
Before the last match against Slovenia, Swedish Football Association General Secretary Håkan Sjöstrand visited the Viaplay studio.
Sjöstrand was asked what the evaluation work would look like regardless of whether Sweden got a positive or negative result from the international match against Slovenia.

– I’m the general secretary. I’m more general in context. Of course I spoke to Janne. Then we have a number of experts and it’s their job to assess and look at this. That’s what the team around Janne does when you look at the soccer team along with the players, of course.
This has caused Lasse Granqvist to criticize how Swedish football is governed.
– Lee’s answer refers to flum. If there’s one thing I don’t want out of lead it’s wrong. I want a demanding job. I want to follow up, he says on the Sporthuset podcast.
“It is not required”
Granqvist makes his own suggestion as to how he thinks Sjöstrand would have answered the question. According to the commentator, the Secretary-General should have said that those in charge of the national team would have a meeting, without the captain, the next morning where they would be tasked with reporting to Sjöstrand an investigation within three weeks. Then, as the supreme director of the Confederacy’s commanding officer, he would speak to Jan Andersen and then coordinate with the Confederation Council, Granqvist believed.
Leadership in Swedish football, in my opinion, does not exist. What is there is very bad. There are no prerequisites for clear and clear leadership, clear and clear leadership in Swedish football.
Granqvist commends the work that Swedish Football Association President Karl-Erik Nilsson has done in UEFA.
General Secretary Håkan Sjöstrand is the one who leads, if I may call it that, the domestic politics of Swedish football that has reached the ditch. It is tolerant, there is a lack of follow-up, and there is a lack of management.
