Viaplay has disappeared from Telia Play – viewers are losing sports

Now Viaplay is launched for everyone who has Telia

By the age of 12, rights such as the Premier League, cross-country skiing, the NHL and Formula 1 had all but disappeared.
By the age of 12, rights such as the Premier League, cross-country skiing, the NHL and Formula 1 had all but disappeared.

By twelve o’clock at the beginning of the month, the rights were gone.

You can no longer watch leagues like Premier League, NHL and Damallsvenskan on Telia Play, even if you have paid for them.

– Most often, the operator has taken this into account in its agreements, says Victoria Andersen, acting director of operations for independent industry organization Telekområdgivarna.

Earlier in September, both Viaplay and Telia said that negotiations for a new agreement between the two TV companies had stalled.

Consequently, customers with Telia Play subscriptions risk losing all rights to Viaplay as of October 1.

Now that is the case.

Customers can be compensated

If you get a subscription with Telia Play to see, for example Premier LeagueOr the NHL, Formula 1, or the World Cup in Cross Country Skiing, you can now get Viaplay instead.

– They don’t want to pay, but that’s gone now. They have had many months to accept the price others pay. Now is the time to move on, says Roberta Allenios, Viaplay’s press director, about negotiations with Telia.

Some customers have stuck to Telia’s multi-month subscriptions. According to media Dagens, up to one million customers are affected and Telia plans to compensate them with other content.

– Among other things, we offer a price reduction for all sports packages in which Viaplay is included. In addition, all TV customers are offered new attractive content and a set of free offers. Among others, C More, HBO Max, Uefa Champions League and Sky Showtime, says Ruiga Rafei, Telia’s press officer.

“took her height”

Victoria Anderson, acting director of operations for independent industry organization Telekområdgivarna, told TT that Telia Play customers would find themselves in the compensation offered.

“Most of the time, the operator has taken this into account in their agreements, as there may be certain channels that have been taken down and then you as a customer have to find yourself that way because of rights,” Anderson says.

TT: But if you get Viaplay to watch NHL on the ice, for example, do you have to accept getting a channel without the sport you want?

– Then you have to look at what was discussed when concluding the individual agreement. If the consumer can demonstrate that the reason for signing this agreement is that they want to be able to get into the field of hockey, this may be something that comes into play.
