Sergio Perez won the Singapore Grand Prix, Verstappen failed

He seems to be the king of city trails. Sergio Perez was the first to cross the finish line at the Singapore Grand Prix – thus taking two victories and second place on the three city tracks of the year.

– This was the best race I’ve ever driven, sensationally good, cheers stable director Christian Horner.

The start of the Singapore Grand Prix was delayed by about an hour due to heavy rain. Sergio Perez, the Red Bull driver, started with Ferrari Charles Leclerc, who took first place and then were followed in the sometimes deserted race. Because it was wet on the road, intermediate tires were used and the DRS was not allowed. Only when there was about a half hour left in the race the track was dry enough to run on spots and the DRS had to be used.

Then the race came back to life and Charles Leclerc pushed Sergio Perez to the top. The Ferrari driver chased everything he could, but never met Sergio Perez who crossed the finish line first, ahead of Leclerc and the other Ferrari with Carlos Sainz.

– That’s how we do it, any race I’m very happy with, it rejoices.

However, race management is investigating the way Sergio Perez drove behind the safety car and will review it after completion.

After returning to the field, Max Verstappen was on the job. The WC leader lost two positions already on the first lap and had to work his way up the field. When he then got the lick, he was a bit excited, made a mistake trying to overtake McLaren’s Lando Norris and into the drop zone forcing him to stop on another pit and struggle to even take a place for the points. He eventually finished in seventh place.
