Simon Muller of Mullsjö talks about his songs and his addiction to gambling

Simon Muller sat alone in the summer cottage.

Tears stream down his cheeks.

When he was 18, he relapsed into a gambling addiction and anxiety prevailed.

Addiction affected Simon Muller wherever he was, whatever he did. How is the match going? Do they win? Will I earn money?

Ideas prevailed. Even when he was practicing the earth ball, which he loves, he couldn’t put it off.

– It took a lot of focus. That was all I thought about and it just stuck in my head, Mueller says.

Long before Swedish law allowed money gambling, he fell into a gambling addiction for the first time. When he was 15 years old, he bet on Esport matches.

– It lasted for two years. My parents discovered me sometimes and every time I felt guilty and ashamed.

How did you manage to gamble with money as a minor?

– You can bet on skins (various items in the video game Counter-Strike). They are worth real money and you can buy them from different sites. You drew a dealer, got a skin and then bet on different sides. There was no identity verification. You have just logged in and created an account.

“Under the Circle”

And did you get kicked out of him?

– Yes exactly. That’s why they keep going all the time. And then you wanted to get more money even though you were well off. When I won a lot, I just wanted to win more and more. It’s a vicious cycle.

Simon Muller is silent for a few seconds. Then the Bible quotes.

The love of money is the root of all evil.

stop playing. But it was just a break.

When he was 18 years old, he created accounts in several gambling companies. Then he started betting money on sports other than Esport.

The words that helped him

Mueller is now 21 years old and living the life of his dreams. He plays soccer in the Swedish Superliga and on the side of his sporting career he produces hip-hop.

In his songs, he sings a lot about his Christian faith – a faith that helped him break his gambling addiction and become stronger.

After a week of wasting all the money he had earned, the account was at zero and he was sitting there alone in the summer cottage crying, making his way to Nyhemsveckan in Mullsjö. Mueller felt that God and his family had failed him when he became addicted to gambling again. An 18-year-old boy explained everything to the priest who changed the situation for him in three words.

– These words went straight to the heart. You have become very strong.

“You are forgiving.” This is what he needed to hear. This is what he was told.

– I somehow felt free. I can go on.

“I wanted to highlight that in my songs.”

Möller deleted all gambling companies’ apps and started reading the Bible more often. Today, he tries to do it every day. It gives him joy in life.

Through his songs, he wants to spread them more. He raves about that God has a plan for everyone, that Jesus never fails and that he “wants to help you.”

You often sing about what you are passionate about, and the thing I love is my relationship with God. I feel loved by God, so I wanted to convey that in my songs. But as more and more people started listening to my music, I also started rapping about other things in life, for example about a globe.

Talk about the globe and the music. I made a song for the old Lillån globe team. When does Mullsjö get one?

– Who knows, maybe there will be one in the future. It takes a lot of time and energy, but I think I will make one.

Were your teammates with you?

Some on the team and others around him talked about it, Mueller says with a laugh.

“It’s going to be a nice party”

Mueller released his first single in his third year of high school. Barely a year earlier, he had sung to the prospective students of the school he attended, Verginska High School in Örebro, the Hov1 song “Hon dansar vidare i lifet”. It was then that he realized that he would sing and not sing in songs that he would produce himself.

But music has always been a sideline for Muller. The globe is number one.

And after four years at Allsvenskan, this year he is doing his first season in SSL.

– It was a challenge. But it was very fun and educational. I learned a lot in the first months at Molcho.

Müller additionally works at a school in Molschau, but lives in Jönköping. The club from his birthplace will be the next test in the Swedish Cup.

We’ll run a lot and run the physical game we’re good at. I hope there are a lot of people, it’s going to be a great party and then I think we’ll sort it out.
