Harid: “I explained to him why I made my decision”

Malmo. Åge Hareide is about to change the throne in MFF.

Johan Dahlin has been the MFF’s first-choice goalkeeper for nearly ten seasons – so far.

– There is no doubt that Ismail is very talented, says Harid before the match against Union Berlin as Diawara looks to get the chance again.

Summer 2009 recruited Johann Dahlin until Malmo FF From the Norwegian Lynn.

He immediately took over as the number one goalkeeper and has held the top spot in the MFF goal since then, except for his 3.5 years abroad from 2014-17.

That means nearly ten seasons as a non-threatening first guard in the MFF, with the 36-year-old only standing out eleven when he was injured or on his way back from injury.

I only played one match

But after Myalbe suffered a concussion at the end of August, which kept Dahlin out of the house for a few weeks, and Aggie Haredy entered as the new head coach of the MFF, the situation was different.

Dahlin returned to the bench against Braga in the Europa League on September 8, but apart from EL’s recent match against Union Saint-Gilloise, Dahlin hasn’t played a minute since the Mjällby match.

After losing to Saint-Gilloise, Ismael Diawara was back among the tied in the derby match against HIF and then kept a clean sheet against Hammarby last time.

Before the match against the Belgians, Haredi highlighted the superior qualities of goalkeepers, and in that match he chose Dahlin for his composure/routine (in European matches), and his ability to direct his defense ahead of Diawara, who he believes is the best of the bunch.

But ahead of Thursday’s game against Union Berlin, who top the Bundesliga, it appears that Haredi chose the 27-year-old Diawara based on the 11 starting probability that the Norwegian led in training on Wednesday and as reported by several media outlets.

I explained to him

Is it the change of thrones we’re seeing right now in MFF?

– not necessarily. Johan is a professional and I explained to him why I made my choices. He behaves professionally, trains well and supports Ismail very well when he is not playing by himself. It is important that, with all his experience, he can contribute to his rival. That’s how we should get in the club, says Howard.

We have two very good goalkeepers. It’s a lucky situation for the club to have an experienced goalkeeper and an ‘up-and-coming’ person who can do very well. There is no doubt that Ismail is a huge talent. I like both so I can use them depending on the opponents and the type of match.

Coaches usually have a clear first goalie with confidence, but are you ready for a change?

– I don’t think it’s important that many of them stand. What matters, says Harid, is the relations in the field.

Last week, Dahlin spoke to Fotboll Skåne about the situation:

It is Åge who leads the team while Ismail has done a very good job. He has two good goalkeepers and I’m probably not where I should be. we will see.
