The controversy between Henderson and Gabriel is under investigation
Pictures from the big meeting between Liverpool and Arsenal raise questions.
Arsenal’s Gabriel appears to be furious after exchanging words with Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.
The Football Association (FA) now confirms that they have launched an investigation to get to the truth of an “accident”.
It is not clear what was said when emotions flared at the end of the match between Arsenal and Liverpool.
But Arsenal’s Brazilian centre-back Gabriel was clearly the angrier of all.
Teammate Granit Chaxa had to step in and banish Gabriel, while pointing furiously at Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.
Then referee Michael Oliver paused play to run to the touch line and call up the two teams’ coaches. According to The Guardian, it was the comments that must have been made between the players that were discussed next.
The Football Association achieves
At midnight, several hours after the final whistle, the FA confirmed that it had launched an investigation.
“We have learned of an incident that occurred during the match between Arsenal and Liverpool. We are in contact with the refereeing team and will investigate the details of the incident.”‚ One writes in a statement.
Penalty kick won
Arsenal won the match 3-2.
Bukayo Saka scored the match-winning goal from the penalty spot after a controversial penalty kick.
Arsenal are now at the top of the table.
It’s even worse for Liverpool, who are in 10th place, who have also suffered two serious new injuries to key players Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz.
The latter was seen leaving the Emirates Stadium on crutches.
– Both are injured and it doesn’t look good, coach Jurgen Klopp said afterwards.
