AIK He has been working on the coaching issue since the club chose to sack Bartosz Gerzelak last summer. There, a technical board, chaired by the Academy’s director, Peter Weinberg, participated and evaluated a number of candidates. The assessment included, among other things, the technical board taking references from different people, they interviewed a number of trainers and also examined the statistics on the candidates.

Sportbladet was able to reveal early on that successful Kalmar coach Henrik Rydström was one of the candidates to get AIK on the radar. But there was also Sirius Daniel Backstrom, two other Swedish coaches and a couple of foreign options. Among other things, the Portuguese Joao Henrix was in Stockholm for a week and had a meeting with the club. But later, Henrique signed with Portuguese Maritimo in the Portuguese League. Now the work with a new Head Coach has progressed and the AIK Technical Council has produced a new Head Coach candidate for 2023. Consistent information from Sportbladet says that Henrik Redström He is now the club’s lead candidate for the position of new head coach until 2023. In addition to Weinberg, sporting director Henrik Geurelius, CEO Manuel Lindberg, Stefan Lundin and Johannes Weklund are members of the AIK Technical Council.
Will try to recruit redstrom
The reason Redstrom is number one is primarily his profile in terms of the football he plays and how he views the development of young players, as well as the results he has achieved over time with few resources. AIK will now also make a serious attempt to sign Rydström, but it remains to be seen if it succeeds. Redström was previously linked with Malmö FF and Kalmar is currently 3rd in the Allsvenskan and currently occupying the European spot, after beating Elfsborg yesterday.
