The Canadian Hockey Federation admitted this summer to secretly paying large sums to settle victims in suspected assault cases.
Now both the union president and the entire board of directors are resigning.
Scott Smith, the chairman of Hockey Canada, has resigned as has the board of directors of the federation after scandals shocked the entire hockey-obsessed nation.
The association confirms this on its website.
20 million in damages
In May earlier this year, TSN reported that a woman accused eight players of the 2018 Canadian band JVM of sexually assaulting her.
According to the site, the hockey association agreed with the woman to a settlement in which she received 20 million Swedish kronor in compensation.

When Hockey Canada was questioned by Parliament in July, it admitted paying large sums to cover up the sexual assault. According to CBC, the number was between 70 million SEK and 21 people over a 33-year period.
Furthermore, it turned out that the members’ money was being used to pay settlement amounts.
