Djurgarden looks forward to the derby against AEK: ‘A giant match’

Mikael Lustig and Sebastian Larsson are in their last derby.

Then Djurgården predicts he’ll hit a bit.

“Maybe we’ll see that in a quarter of an hour,” says Magnus Ericsson.

After two straight losses at Allsvenskan, Djurgården needs a win over AIK so he doesn’t fall behind in the battle for gold. But the Blue Stripes derby result against AEK is not the best.

In 21 attempts at Allsvenskan, there was only one victory.

– This year we lost to them away and then I think they have a chance to score and win it. As long as we don’t give chances, we know we have a good chance of winning, he says Harris Radetenac.

Rasmus Schuller is on the same path.

– It’s a very good position to face AIK. We have good confidence and a good feeling in the group which is boosted by beating a qualified opponent. Now is the time to start winning the Allsvenskan, too, he says.

‘Great match’

Djurgaarden expects there to be a bit of a stir in the derby, especially as Mikael Lustig and Sebastian Larsson announced this week that they are ending their footballing career.

– Maybe we’ll see that in a quarter of an hour, I think. It’s likely to be a difficult event, says Magnus Ericsson, and usually a difficult one, and continues:

– We must hope that it will be the same result as in the first half against Ghent. It’s a huge, very important match given the result we got last weekend, so we’re going to go out and make a real mark in the game.

Several interruptions

Thursday’s win over Gent meant Djurgarden was further out of the group stage, but there was no celebration.

– really no. It felt like a regular win. I don’t think we realize his size, either for the players or for the club. Not many have experienced this, but I don’t think people will be able to understand it until next year’s games, Radetinak says and continues:

– Now we can focus more on Allsvenskan and try to finish it as nicely as possible.

Rasmus Schuller and Hampus Wendel missed Thursday’s match as Hjalmar Ekdal also missed, Marcus Danielson And Alexander Vasyutin went on a rampage.

Danielson and Schuller are the only ones on the team against Ike.

I do everything possible, and impossible, to be able to participate. Schuller said Thursday that there has been no interruption, so it is the job that decides.
