Supporters are allowed to live in barracks in Qatar – see photos

The World Cup in Qatar in front of the luxurious stadiums that were built for billions of dollars.

But it’s not about the luxury of fans who want to live in the tournament’s “fan village.”

Alternatively, fans can expect container-like barracks.

On November 20, the FIFA World Cup kicks off Qatar I started. The tournament has been criticized for a number of different reasons, mainly related to the state’s vision of human rights.

The World Cup stadiums, built by visiting workers, cost billions of dollars and look shabby on the outside. But apparently, there will not be any luxurious conditions for fans who intend to travel to Qatar, and live in the so-called “Fan Village” tournament.

The barracks were close to each other

For around 2,500 SEK per night, fans will be able to live in container-like barracks, placed close to each other. This is reported by The Sun newspaper, which shows photos taken by Bloomberg. In the photos it appears, to say the least, overcrowded in the area.

It is written on the official website of the organizer: “Fan Village offers a choice of double or twin rooms with en suite bathrooms for two people. Each cabin has tea and coffee making facilities, 2 bottles of water per day, fridge, bed linen and towels. In the facilities there are also restaurants serving a range of different cuisines.

100 kroner per beer

Near the residential area there will be a place where supporters will be located, alcohol will also be sold there. The price of a beer is said to be about a hundred kroner.

Aside from lodgings in the Fan Village, there are serviced apartments, hotels, villas and cruise hotels to stay in Qatar, but according to The Sun, accommodation is scarce with just over a month left until the tournament.

Meanwhile, the footballers’ wives and children will live on Banana Island, a luxury resort described as the “Maldives of Qatar”. A room there costs 70,000 SEK per night, and the facility includes, among other things, several large swimming pools and a helipad.

About 1.2 million visitors are expected to attend the World Championships.
