Anna Amholt, 22, was forced to end her ice hockey career.

The former great talent was hit hard by the coronavirus a little over two years ago.

– He’s obviously very bored. But it’s time to accept the situation, she says.

Amholt was one of Sweden’s most promising hockey talents when she was affected by the COVID-19 virus two and a half years ago. Since then, life has not been the same with recurring fevers, fatigue and muscle aches, among other things.

– I came to the conclusion that 21 hours of rest a day works very well, as she previously told Sportbladet.

On Wednesday, the 22-year-old announced that his career was over in an interview with Sveriges Radio.

– I can hardly be able to go up and down the stairs at the moment, she said.

‘It’s time to accept the situation’

When Sportbladet arrives Anna Amholt She says she realized it was over some time ago, even if she didn’t express it outwardly.

– He’s obviously very bored. But it’s time to accept the situation, so that I can move forward in trying to build a new life and find some meaning in it.

A difficult decision for Amholt, who decided to become an ice hockey goalkeeper three years ago.

– Yes, I inhaled ice hockey. I take steps toward accepting my status in my life every day. She also says I go to a psychiatrist every week to get help with that.

– It’s not very sharp. It goes up and down frequently. I’m in a worse period now, so I can’t stand much. I get symptoms easily when I stress myself.

I am being investigated

Amholt says she’s under investigation for ME, chronic fatigue syndrome.

For people who have ME, in many cases it has spread due to a viral infection. Then covid and I seem to be very similar. So they (the doctors) may not know what it is either, or if it’s the same thing.

Anna Amholt, who last played with HV71, won SC gold with Luleå and was named the best JVM goalkeeper when Sweden took the silver in 2018.

How was the conversation with HV71 during this time?

– He wasn’t there, I say.

Are you disappointed by that?

– Maybe I expected more at first when I got sick. But at the moment I have nothing to do with them, so I don’t expect much now. Then I was so bad that it wasn’t something I thought about at the time. I was busy with several sponsorship agencies.

Want to deal with everyday life

Älmhult’s focus is now on dealing with everyday life.

I try to find my limits on what works now, so that I can constantly move forward and deal with more and more in everyday life.

Is there a job distinction you’re particularly proud of?

– I thought Silver JVM was very fun. It was historical and is something I will carry with me. I hope to enjoy it a little more later in life, Anna Amholt concludes.
