Only two European teams from the World Cup finals have a chance of qualifying for the Olympics in France in 2024.
Sweden captain Peter Gerhardsson believes there are too few places at the Olympics.
“I think when men under-21 have more teams in the Olympics than women, I think there should be more teams,” he says.
Together with France who have already qualified, only two teams had the chance to qualify for the Olympics in Paris 2024.

According to Gerhardsson, the Swedish Football Association is trying to bring about change.
The IOC and FIFA must ensure that something is done. But they’ve been doing it for 16 years now, so I don’t know what they’re doing about it. I am not a member of the committee, but I have an opinion that some change should be made.
This isn’t the first time Gerhardson has criticized the Olympic football system.
“When the guys are in the U-23 tournament, and we bring in the best players ever in the world, I easily think you can have a few teams here,” he told Sportbladet in July 2021.
