According to Sportbladet information, the club is now finalizing negotiations with Andreas Brännström – and if all goes as planned, he is expected to be introduced as a new coach soon.
The plan is also for Henok Goitom to remain at the club as assistant coach for “Brännan”.
AIK has been looking for a new coach since the club sacked Bartosz Gerzelak and then he was brought in Henoch Joytom As a new coach. Among other things, the club’s technical council reviewed with Henrik Redström the Kalmar player and a number of other names.
SportExpressen wrote on Monday that Andreas Bernström was a strong candidate for the new head coach position as he was on AIK’s shortlist as the new head coach. According to Sportbladet information, AIK has now decided to move to Brännström, as it is the club’s first choice. The parties have started final negotiations and everything indicates that the parties have reached an agreement and that he is expected to be introduced as the new head coach within the next few weeks.
Brännström should also see AIK as an ideal move as it fits well with the club’s philosophy, especially as AIK places great emphasis on developing young talent. He received a number of offers from other Allsvenskan clubs which he turned down. At the same time, AIK is high on the list of potential coaches for the upcoming season, Branstrom, since he also knows Henok Goitom well.
AIK has always wanted to keep Goitom at the club and is now expected to remain as Brännström’s assistant coach. Nothing is ready or signed yet, but according to Sportbladet information there are only small details left and AIK hopes to be able to announce that Brännström will become head coach and Goitom will become an assistant sometime after the Allsvenskan season is over.
